Minecraft on PS4 to take advantage of the DualShock 4’s touchpad

Mojang took to the PlayStation blog to detail how Minecraft on PS4 will make use of the DualShock 4’s touchpad.

Mojang confirmed the touchpad will be used for crafting and menu navigation.

Moreover, Mojang confirmed that Minecraft on PS4 will feature worlds “36 times bigger than the ones you might be used to on PlayStation 3.”

The company is still working on the best way to transition gamers from the PS3 to the PS4 version of the game. An update will be available for a small fee, and applies to digital copies of the game for now.

“Our intention is to make this work for the disc version of Minecraft too, but it’s proving a bit trickier to set up,” Mojang asserted. “We’ll post more info on this as soon as possible.”

Minecraft‘s PS4 edition arrives in August.
