Metal Eden release date set for 2 September

Ready for a sci-fi spin on Doom?

The new Metal Eden release date has been set for 2 September across PC and consoles, Reikon Games and Plaion have today announced.

“Time to descent into the cryptic, atmospheric world of Metal Eden,” the pair said in a press release. “It’s an invitation to embark on an immersive journey into the heart of Planet Moebius, where mankind’s remnants are trapped within decaying cores—and ASKA may be the key to their survival.

“Her hidden past begins to unfold as she confronts the devastating legacy of the Erosion Bomb and her own transformation from human to weapon,” the press release continued.

“Metal Eden presents an adrenaline-fueled sci-fi FPS that explores a world where humanity’s consciousness has transcended the flesh, now residing within robots,” Plaion and Reikon continued. “With 8 unique missions and a handcrafted universe setting that embraces the cybernetic dimension of life, the game thrills players into an artificial world, where they’ll dive into in cybernetic warfare, control a powerful hyper unit, and uncover the mysteries of a lost paradise.”

We previewed the title back in April of this year, and had some decent things to say after a short stint of gameplay.

“From the half-hour of hands-on time we’ve had with it, we can confidently say it’s a sci-fi skin over 2016’s Doom… and for the record: there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that,” I wrote at the time.

Ahead of the final release, you can try out Metal Eden for yourself as a new demo is available on PC, Xbox Series, and PS5. Download links are as follows:

Metal Eden was first expected back in May on Windows PC via Steam, PS5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. It’ll now be available from 2 September.
