Melbourne Game Jam celebrates 10 years of the Global Game Jam

The upcoming Melbourne Game Jam will celebrate 10 years of participation in the Global Game Jam over this coming weekend, its organisers announced.

Taking place at the JMC Academy in South Melbourne from 5pm AEDT on Friday, 31 January, the Melbourne Game Jam will kick off alongside a whopping 927 events in 116 other countries, celebrating “innovation, collaboration and experimentation”.

“We have new sites in Launceston and Hobart, more sites than ever before in New Zealand. In Australia and New Zealand we have 20 sites preparing for a weekend of friendship fuelled creative frenzying,” said Regional Organiser for Australia and New Zealand, Giselle Rosman.

“While some sites, like Melbourne with almost 250 people, are already full, many sites are still accepting jammers – you don’t need any experience, just a desire to give it a go and make a game!”

If you’dlike to particpate, you can find out more about Aussie sites here and New Zealand sites here. For worldwide information, check this link. Our best wishes go out to those taking part.
