Masters of Albion gameplay trailer shows off its goods

Overhype? From Molyneux? NEVER.

A new Masters of Albion extended gameplay trailer shows off what players can expect from the latest title from Fable‘s Peter Molyneux and his studio, 22 Cans.

(And just so we’re clear: even though this game references “Albion,” it’s not officially connected to that of Fable — past or upcoming…)

The trailer, below, shows off how the godlike game works, from manipulating the overworld and its inhabitants straight into possessing the mind and body of a villager.

“This trailer offers players an extended, continuous sequence of gameplay, allowing them to see how the game’s various mechanics come together in real time,” 22 Cans said in a press release. “It showcases the freedom players have to create unique strategies, experiment with systems, and overcome the challenges Albion presents, and represents the very heart of what a God game should be. From constructing buildings and designing armour, to solving quests and fighting off the chaos of night, the experience of playing Masters of Albion begins to feel tangible and fully realised.”

“This is where the game truly comes alive,” added Molyneux. “Seeing all of these systems working together — building, crafting, exploration, and conflict — finally delivers the feeling of power, creativity, and responsibility that defines a true God game.”

While what’s on offer admittedly looks good, you’d be forgiven if you were taking this all with a grain of salt; both Molyneux and 22 Cans have reputations for over-promising and under-delivering. Take from that what you will.

Expect Masters of Albion from 22 April on Windows PC via Steam.
