Mass Effect: Andromeda: All we know — class, combat changes and more

A wonderful NeoGAF post summarises all we know about Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Simply put, quite a bit is changing.

The protagonist(s)

We’ll be playing as one of two twins: Scott or Sarah Ryder. It’s not confirmed that we’ll be able to rename the character we choose, but it’s likely. Additionally, the non-selected twin apparently comes along for the ride as well. The Ryders are the children of Alec Ryder (voiced by Clancy Brown), the leader of an Ark that’s brought the humans to the Heleus Cluster.

Classes and systems

The franchise’s class-based system is being scuttled, though players will be able to respec their character if they’re not happy with where they’ve thrown development points. Additionally, Renegade and Paragon systems have made way for Heart, Head, Professional and Casual ones instead.

Combat

First, global cooldowns will be replace by individual timers. Andromeda will also use a dynamic cover system, though additions like a jetpack and quick dash encourage players to work around the map.

Relationships

Of course there will be even more options to romance characters than ever before. After all, it’s a BioWare game.

There’s a bunch more over on NeoGAF.

Mass Effect: Andromeda heads to Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4 in Autumn 2017.
