Two interesting pieces of news have just come out from a Bioware interview with producer Jesse Houston. First up, anyone wanting to play Mass Effect 3 on PC will have to go through a one-time, initial verification process requiring an internet connection. Additionally, those who want to play the “Galaxy at War” DLC will need to purcahse an Online Pass code and verify it once using an internet connection.
At least you won’t need an internet connection 24/7 when you want to play, PC gamers.
The more important piece of news is that Mass Effect 3 will not offer local-based co-op multiplayer at launch. On any iteration of the game.
Houston hasn’t ruled out the possibility of local co-op being added down the track, but this is a huge disappointment for those gamers who share a life/house with one another — that’s two copies you’ll be needing to buy if you want to work together. At least, for now.
