Marvel Rivals adds Human Torch, Thing, and buffs most characters today

More power!

Marvel Rivals will add two new heroes in the Human Torch and Thing later today, alongside a bunch of buffs for all but its support characters.

Officially dubbed Season 1.5, players here in Australia can expect the new content — which also includes a new New York-based map — from 7.00 pm AEDT today, 21 February 2025.

The Human Torch has been described by some as a better version of Iron Man; Johnny Storm is capable of flight, long-range fireballs, and can also get up close and personal very quickly. He’s also able to team-up with characters including Storm and the Invisible Woman.

Thing, meanwhile, is a Vanguard who can take (and deal) a lot of damage. He can throw Wolverine at opponents, just like Hulk.

In terms of balancing updates, all but Cloak and Dagger, Luna Snow, and Invisible Woman will be buffed (rather than nerfing those characters) as some are over-performing as compared to others. Those benefitting most from the buffs include the likes of Iron Fist, Magik, Iron Man, and Captain America… so maybe Human Torch isn’t better the ol’ Tony Stark after all.

Check out videos for the new heroes above and below.

Marvel Rivals is out now on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5.
