Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games heads to Wii U, 3DS

Nintendo used its micro Nintendo Direct yesterday to confirm Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games on both Wii U and 3DS.

The long-standing Olympic team-up will feature characters from both the Mario and Sonic franchies.

Featured sports include rugby, exclusive to Wii U, and golf exclusive to 3DS — and, it should be noted, making its reappearance in the Olympics after 112 years.

Other sports include football, gymnastics, table tennis and track events.

The 2016 Summer Olympics take place in August 2016.
