Mario Kart World shown off in new Nintendo Direct

And it's... Mario Kart!

Mario Kart World was shown off overnight in a new Nintendo Direct, and we’ve got it for you right here.

The 46-minute (!) presentation is available for you in full, below.

“Nintendo unveiled new information about the upcoming game for Nintendo Switch 2, which is set to be the biggest Mario Kart game in series history,” Nintendo said in a press release. “It features a series first: an interconnected world where players can drive virtually anywhere, including across cities, plains, a desert and even the ocean. The presentation showcased brand new modes such as Knockout Tour and Free Roam, new features such as Dash Food, and new techniques like the Charge Jump.”

Mario Kart World will be an interconnected world for up to 24 racers at one time. Modes include Grand Prix, Knockout Tour, Free Roam and Battle Mode.

“Leap over obstacles and more with the new Charge Jump move,” Nintendo said of a new technique that will appear. “Use it to jump onto rails that you can grind, dodge attacks from your rivals and even jump toward a wall to ride on it for a short time. You can also chain together wall-rides to uncover hidden routes.”

Also added is Forza-like rewind that will only impact your kart.

“Miss your mark during single-player Free Roam or races? Just use Rewind to reset your vehicle to its original position – a great way to undo a driving mishap, but keep in mind that your rivals will still move normally while rewinding, so try not to lose your lead,” Nintendo said.

Expect Mario Kart World alongside the launch of the Switch 2: 5 June 2025.
