Mario Kart 8 getting DLC that brings Link, F-Zero and Animal Crossing to the track

Mario Kart 8 is getting new DLC, and it isn’t the crappy kind. We’re looking at you, “Mercedes Bens” DLC.

The racing game is soon to receive two new packs that will add Link, Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach and Animal Crossing characters to the mix. Also included will be an F-Zero kart and tracks inspired by The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing.

Pack one, cleverly named “Pack 1” will be available this November and includes Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach and Link alongside 4 new vehicles — including that F-Zero kart — and 8 new courses.

In May 2015, “Pack 2” will be released, offering Dry Bowser and Animal Crossing‘s Villager and Isabel. Also included are 4 new vehicles and 8 new courses.

If you buy both packs, you get a bonus of eight different-coloured Yoshis and eight different-coloured Shy Guys to use straight from time of purchase.

We reviewed Mario Kart 8 here.

Update: Nintendo Australia has confirmed the packs will set you back $10 AUD each or $16 AUD for them both.

We’ve also got new screenshots of characters you’ll be able to access:
