Local Australian servers confirmed for Destiny

Kotaku Australia has just confirmed with Bungie that Destiny will indeed make use of local servers in the country.

“The seamless matchmaking experience in Destiny is designed so it doesn’t require locally-hosted servers for most players,” Server Software Engineering Lead Roger Wolfson said to Kotaku. “But depending on where you are and if it is required to have an optimal experience, there are locally-hosted servers all over the world, including in Australia.”

So there you have it. We’ve localised servers, but no real confirmation on exactly where those servers are. Still, not bad news ahead of tonight’s midnight launch, eh?

Destiny will be available on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4.
