Live action Directive 8020 trailer shows off couch co-op

And more of The Thing.

A new live action Directive 8020 trailer shows off a teeny bit of Supermassive’s upcoming game while showing off its Event Horizon meets The Thing vibes.

As you can see in the trailer below, the newest in the Dark Pictures Anthology supports four-player, offline (or couch-based) co-op play. With it, you’ll be prompted to pass around the controller to control specific in-game characters, and presumably encouraged to find consensus before making big decisions.

On the actual game side, you can get some really good glimpses of the entity that’s taken over a space ship and, slowly, its crew.

While the trailer does show how fun it can be to play titles like this with friends, it kind of glosses over how long it’ll take to finish Directive 8020. I’ve personally tried couch co-op with friends playing Dark Pictures games in the past, and quickly realised it wasn’t going to start and finish in a single night; getting everyone back together for subsequent sessions can be challenging.

Expect The Dark Pictures Directive 8020 from 12 May 2026 on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5. Pre-orders are available now and offer up a free digital deluxe edition upgrade.
