Like a Dragon, Yakuza Steam sale kicks off 20th anniversary celebrations

Lots to parse, here.

Like a Dragon and Yakuza 20th anniversary celebrations have started a bit early, with Sega launching a franchise Steam sale ahead of a anniversary editions of Yakuza titles coming 8 December.

The franchise Steam sale, which can be accessed here, promises savings of up to 80% on titles including Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, Like a Dragon Ishin!, and more.

This will be followed up by special 20th anniversary editions of Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza Kiwami 2, and Yakuza 0 across Windows PC via Steam, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5. It gets a little complicated from here.

Starting 8 December, those who already own Yakuza 0 on Steam, Xbox One, or PS4 will be able to upgrade to Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut on Steam, Xbox Series, or PS5 for $14.99 USD. Outright, the title will retail for $49.99 USD.

Also on 8 December, those who own Yakuza Kiwami on last-gen systems will be able to upgrade for $1.99 USD. Otherwise, that title is $19.99 USD at full price.

Finally, Yakuza Kiwami 2 owners on last-gen consoles will be able to upgrade to current-gen versions for no cost at all. How lovely!

All these upgrades mean several titles will also be removed from current storefronts, as follows:

  • Yakuza 0 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam will no longer be available for new purchases from December 8th at 08:30 am PST.
  • Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut will also replace Yakuza 0 in the Yakuza Complete Series digital bundle available on the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store and Steam.

Got all that? Good! And happy 20th anniversary, Like a Dragon, Yakuza, and developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio!
