Konami: Hideo Kojima hasn’t left, he’s just on vacation

Following reports that Hideo Kojima has left Konami, the games publisher is asserting the developer is still an employee of the company.

“Currently, Kojima is listed as a company employee,” a Konami spokesperson affirmed with Tokyo Sports (translated by Kotaku).

Reports of Kojima’s departure were based on a farewell party hosted at Kojima Productions, but Konami insisted it’s not aware of such a function.

“We’re not sure what kind of thing this was,” Konami’s spokesperson said of the party.

Following Konami’s response, a photo of the party was tweeted by Simon Parkin, the journalist who originally reported on the matter:

Oddly enough, Kojima himself has yet to comment on the issue.

We’ll keep you posted.
