Kim Kardashian Hollywood to shut down after 10 years

An icon has been silenced.

Update: If you’re devastated that Kim Kardashian Hollywood is closing up shop in April, there’s a faint glimmer of hope: a Change.org petition has been started to attempt to revive the mobile title.

“We urge Glu Mobile Inc., the developer behind this beloved game, to breathe life back into it with regular updates and bring back our much-awaited semi-annual sales,” the petition reads. “Please sign this petition if you too want to see your favorite mobile game restored to its former glory.”

If you’re wanting to check out or sign the petition, you can do so here.

Original story [5 January 2024]: Kim Kardashian Hollywood, a mobile game currently available on iOS and Android devices, will shut down in April after 10 years of availability.

The title was first made available to players in June 2014 as a result of a collaboration between Kardashian and Glu Mobile.

As of right now, the game will no longer offer in-game purchases, and the game itself has been removed from app stores. Any existing in-game currency held by players can be used until 9 April here in Australia. After that time, the game itself will “become inaccessible”.

Speaking with TMZ, Kardashian said she was “so grateful from the bottom of [her] heart to everyone who has played Kim Kardashian: Hollywood”.

“This journey has meant so much to me but I’ve realised that it’s time to focus that energy into other passions,” Kardashian continued. “I want to thank the Glu team and the many people behind the scenes who have worked diligently on making it a success. I will be forever inspired by this community that we built together.”

While it may not be your cup of tea, Kim Kardashian Hollywood earned $1.6 million USD in revenue in its first five days of availability, prompting Glu to team up with Taylor Swift for a mobile game of her own.
