And a closed beta is coming...
Killer Inn is the name of a new game from Tactic Studios and Square Enix, and was revealed today at Summer Game Fest.
The titular Killer Inn is hidden from space and time (or something like that), and groups players together in a kill-or-be-killed scenario. The title is described as “an action-packed murder mystery” that liberally borrows from the likes of Werewolf. Or, The Traitors, if you’re more a TV watcher than a board game player.
The twenty-four player, PvP title game will involve killers (not werewolves, but merely wolves), and innocent lambs. Players are randomly grouped into either camp at the beginning of each match. From there, you scavenge, investigate… and murder.
“Lambs, however, aren’t defenseless,” said Dave Herzog, Technical Director at Tactic Studios. “If they can stay alive long enough, they can piece together clues to identify who the wolves are, and fight back.”
From trailers, there appear to be social elements and straight-up shooter and melee combat. There’s a lot of risk and reward, too; if a lamb incorrectly accuses another lamb, they’ll be kicked out of the game.
We’ll embed a Killer Inn trailer soon, alongside further info when available. A closed beta on Windows PC via Steam has been announced, but not yet dated.
