Injustice 2: Newly revealed microtransactions “won’t affect gameplay or game progression”

Injustice 2 will have real-world money purchases in the form of Source Crystals, developer NetherRealm today revealed. Moreover, the developer said the microtransactions “won’t affect gameplay or game progression”.

Source Crystals will allow players to purchase Premiere Skins (like the Reverse Flash skin for hero The Flash), shaders (as above with Harley Quinn) or to transform gear. They can also be used to level additional fighters to level 20 once a single character has been levelled that high.

“We value our community and want to be clear – you cannot “pay to win” with Injustice 2,” NetherRealm said as part of today’s announcement.

The option to level up additional characters is meant to “save time”, the developer continued.

“This is optional and won’t affect gameplay or game progression,” NetherRealm stressed.

Source Crystals can be purchased via the PlayStation and Xbox Stores from launch day. Pricing has not yet been detailed.

Injustice 2 heads to both Xbox One and PS4 on 16 May.
