Hyper Scape shut down coming this April, says Ubisoft

Alas, poor battle royale... you weren't meant to be.

Ubisoft will shut down its latest battle royale title Hyper Scape at the end of April, it’s today advised.

“We have made the difficult decision to end development of Hyper Scape and shut the game down as of April 28th,” Ubisoft offered in a statement.

“We set out to create a vertical, close-quarters, and fast-paced shooter experience and we are extremely grateful to our community for joining us on our journey. We will be taking key learnings from this game into future products.”

Hyper Scape‘s time in the world was short: it entered into an open beta in Australia in July 2020. When first announced at that same time, Ubisoft said the title was “a fresh take on battle royale,” though it appears that audiences didn’t agree.
