HTC Vive Pro pre-orders now live as price of original Vive drops

HTC Vive Pro pre-orders are now being accepted, coinciding with a price drop for the original Vive headset.

Global pre-orders are now available, with the Vive Pro’s Australian price set at $1199 AUD. Meanwhile, the original Vive has been reduced to $879 AUD, HTC today confirmed.

“With the Vive Pro we are delivering the best quality display and visual experience to the most discerning VR enthusiasts. Our goal has always been to offer the most premium VR platform available and to drive adoption for VR,” said Daniel O’Brien, HTC Vive General Manager. “By lowering the price of the current Vive, we are making VR more accessible while expanding the potential market for developers. Whether you’re a VR enthusiast or new to the platform, there’s never been a better time to join the most complete VR platform available.”

Moreover, those who purchase a Vive Pro headset before 3 June will receive a six-month trial to Viveport Subscription, “where consumers can choose up to 5 titles per month from the more than 400 titles available.”

A Viveport Subscription… um, subscription… will be offered at $11.99 AUD per month, though customers who sign up before 22 March will pay only $9.99 AUD per month.
