Hollow Knight Silksong launch breaks Steam, then hits 500,000+ concurrent players

It’s Hollow Knight Silksong launch day — and congratulations to the metric shit-tonne of you that celebrate. On Windows PC via Steam alone, more than half a million players were concurrently enjoying Silksong, even going as far as to break the storefront at release.

It wasn’t just Steam that was having problems at Silksong‘s initial release; players on Switch and Xbox reported delays, while PlayStation users had to wait extra hours for the title to even show up.

Silksong is hammering the Steam, Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation stores 😅

Once things are up and rolling, they REALLY were rolling — SteamDB shows that Silksong‘s all-time concurrent peak hit 535,214 players around three hours after its launch. At the time of writing, around 7 hours after launch, Silksong has 441,823 concurrent players on Steam.

All up, it’s fantastic news for Team Cherry and equally so for players. Silksong wasn’t reviewed by anyone, pre-release, so it’s up to you to decide if you want to join the current horde or wait for initial thoughts from critics and players alike.

At any rate, enjoy Hollow Knight Silksong release day, everyone!

Hollow Knight Silksong is now available on Windows PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series S & X.
