Hitman developer: Content released in December isn’t the full game

Hitman developer IO Interactive recently released a Q&A detailing how the upcoming game will work. The initially digital-only game will release with most, but not all of its content at release.

“What we release on December 8 is not the full game,” IO Interactive said.

“It’s a sizeable chunk of it. Throughout 2016 we’ll release more locations and missions until the story arc is done and finished. All of that content is included in the $60 price.”

IO Interactive stressed that despite the strategy, Hitman is not an “early access” game, adding that all content will be “complete and polished” upon release.

“We think the word ‘episodic’ sets up the expectation that we will sell individual content drops for individual prices but that’s not something we’re planning to do,” IO Interactive continued.

“That said, there are some episodic elements to the story in the sense that it’s delivered in chunks over time, so experiencing the story will probably feel episodic. But there is also a ton of other content including live events, which have nothing to do with the story.”

Hitman will be digital-only on Xbox One, PS4 and Windows PC from 8 December, with a retail release to follow in 2016.
