Halo campaign remade for a second time, this time on PS5 too

New Halo is old Halo.

Halo Campaign Evolved is Microsoft’s second remake of the original Halo, but this time on PS5 too.

Expected in 2026, the remake will bypass multiplayer and focus on campaign only, hence the slight name change from Combat Evolved to Campaign Evolved. It will also boast two-player couch co-op and four-player online crossplay.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a faithful yet modernized remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign,” reads the game’s Microsoft Store listing.

“Experience the original story rebuilt with high-definition visuals, updated cinematics, and refined controls, plus three brand-new prequel missions featuring the Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson,” it continued.

Halo Studios has also promised, “a broader arsenal of weapons, vehicles, enemies, and gameplay-modifying ‘Skulls’ – optional modifiers that change combat in fun and challenging ways.”

Two-player split-screen co-op will only be available on consoles, so sorry to those on PC.

The original Halo Combat Evolved was released onto Xbox way back in 2001. It was remastered as Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary in 2011, and re-released again in 2014 as part of Halo The Master Chief Collection.
