Half-Life 2 is free right now, so go grab it!

Can you believe it's been 20 years already?

Half-Life 2 is 20 years old, and in celebration, Valve is making it free to players who redeem it in a short window of time.

From now until 5.00 am AEDT on 19 November, players can redeem a free celebratory bundle. It includes a Episodes 1 & 2 of Half-Life 2 alongside a brand-new documentary, commentary, and more.

You can redeem the bundle here.

The new documentary has been created by Secret Tape, Valve also confirmed.

“It’s about a lot more than just the making of a game,” Valve said. “Running out of money. Getting hacked, and an early version being leaked online. Being sued by our publisher. Trying to build Steam. It’s all in there!”

Valve has also inspected each of the game’s maps in order to “fix longstanding bugs, restore content and features lost to time, and improve the quality of a few things like lightmap resolution and fog”.

Happy 20th anniversary, Half-Life 2.
