GTA V: NSW Police furious over mods that place them in-game

Channel 7 News has recently reported that the NSW Police are furious over Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) mods that have placed them in-game.

NSW Police Minister Troy Grant has called the mod, in which players assume the role of an NSW Poilce officer, “perverse”.

“That doesn’t happen,” he said after watching scenes in which in-game NSW Police officers were shooting perps in the back. “That gives the gamer a false impression about what the role of police is.”

Channel 7 has advised that the NSW Police “plan to take action against the game’s designers,” though its unclear if they mean the mod’s creator — though it appears to actually be several different mods — or developer Rockstar Games itself.

What do you think of Channel 7’s report?
