Grand Theft Auto 5 PS5, Xbox Series pricing detailed; no free upgrades

Time to reach into that wallet if you want current-gen goodness.

Grand Theft Auto 5 PS5 and Xbox Series pricing was today revealed, and players might be surprised to learn that free upgrade paths will not be offered to those who’ve purchased the game on PS4 or Xbox One.

Or PS3 or Xbox 360 for that matter.

Because of a marketing deal with Sony, Grand Theft Auto 5 on current-gen consoles basically has two sets of price points: one for PlayStation and the other for Xbox. Here’s what to expect on both.

Grand Theft Auto 5 PS5 Australian pricing

  • Grand Theft Auto 5, which includes both the campaign mode and GTA Online, will be discounted by 75% in its first three months. During this time, the game will be $14.99 AUD. By our calculations, that means the game will be $59.95 AUD when full-priced.
  • Grand Theft Auto Online, which does not include the campaign mode, will be free on PS5 for its first three months. After that, the title will be priced at $9.99 USD (we’re confirming Australian pricing with Rockstar now).

We’ve asked Rockstar Games here in Australia to confirm local pricing details above.

Expect Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA V) on PS5 and Xbox Series S & X from 15 March 2022. It’s already available on Windows PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4.
