Grand Theft Auto 5 gets free PC update bringing current-gen console enhancements

Parity between PC, Xbox Series, and PS5.

Grand Theft Auto 5 will receive a free update on PC on 4 March, bringing parity between it and current-gen releases on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5.

Grand Theft Auto V on PC will receive a free upgrade featuring enhancements previously only available to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players – including new vehicles and performance upgrades available at Hao’s Special Works, animal encounters, improved graphics options, faster loading times, and much more,” Rockstar said in a statement.

“All players who currently own GTAV on PC will be able to upgrade to this new version for free, with a one-time Character Migration flow to bring over your Story Mode and Online progress.”

The update will also push new players to try GTA Online, providing “a GTA$4,000,000 windfall to buy property, vehicles, and other items as you start off as an Executive, Gunrunner, Nightclub Owner or Biker in the Career Builder.”

Also included in the updated are “kernel-based anti-cheat protections, and proactive voice chat moderation to help keep GTA Online safe, secure and fun for everyone.”

Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA V) is available on practically everything — Windows PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS3, PS4, and PS5. The changes detailed above are only inside its Xbox Series S & X and PS5 versions.
