Get ready for a co-op The Walking Dead game from the developers of Payday 2

Payday 2 developers Overkill Software, in partnership with Starbreeze Studios, last night announced a co-operative game based on The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead Creator Robert Kirkman said this game — one of many in the last few years, including Telltale’s episodic franchise and the ill-received The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct by Activision — is the “co-op game that all of the Walking Dead fans have been waiting for.”

Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson Klint said they’ll “bring The Walking Dead into the world of first-person shooter co-op games,” with gameplay that’s “focused, ferocious and bring chaos to the traditional industry model.”

The game is expected to launch in 2016.
