Gameloft: Vivendi buys out the Guillemots’ remaining stock

Vivendi is set to take over full control of mobile publisher Gameloft after agreeing to purchase the Guillemot family’s stock.

The media giant took majority control of Gameloft last week, prompting the Guillemots to retreat and focus on their other family-founded company, Ubisoft.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the Guillemot family “maintains that Vivendi’s hostile approach goes against the best interest of Gameloft, both for its activity and for its teams.” According to speculation on the stock market websites, the Guillemots will sell their remaining 21.7% of control over to Vivendi shortly.

Ubisoft and the Guillemots have taken to Canada to round up the troops in an attempt to stop Vivendi from taking over the publisher of titles like Watch Dogs 2 and Ghost Recon: Wildlands.
