GameFront returns after two years of downtime

GameFront, also known as FileFront, has risen from the ashes after two years of downtime.

A team of volunteers were supported by DBolical (ModDB, IndieDB, SlideDB, VRDB and others) to retrieve and restore 20 years’ worth of files, restoring GameFront itself in the process.

“The new site utilises data which was backed up by the GameFront team, who have restored it to its former glory in an all new custom built website, meaning it will be the definitive place to find all the classic GameFront files, with previously lost author, description, readme and other metadata fully restored,” the site said in a press release.

Moreover, “the site also features fully restored news articles, as well as the original GameFront forums,” the release proclaims.

I personally used GameFront to mod the crap out of Star Trek: Armada, so I’m glad to see it back. Do you plan on checking it out?

Steve Wright

Steve's the owner and Editor-in-Chief of Stevivor.com, the country’s leading independent video games outlet. Steve arrived in Australia back in 2001 on what was meant to be a three-month working holiday before deciding to emigrate and, eventually, becoming a citizen.

Stevivor is a combination of ‘Steve’ and ‘Survivor’, which made more sense back in 2001 when Jeff Probst was up in Queensland. The site started as Steve’s travel blog before transitioning over into video games.

Aside from video games, Steve has interests in hockey and Star Trek, playing the former and helping to cover video games about the latter on TrekMovie.com. By day, Steve works as the communications manager of the peak body representing Victorians as they age.
