Freeplay Independent Games Festival 2015 to take place in Melbourne in mid-April

Details of 2015’s Freeplay Independent Games Festival were today confirmed by festival organisers.

The event, celebrating its ten year anniversary, will take place over 10-19 April in Melbourne. Additionally, an online-only program will be offered for the first time. Proceedings culminate on a final weekend program running over 18 and 19 April.

“We’re incredibly excited about our biggest festival yet,” said Dan Golding, Freeplay’s director. “It’s funny to think of it this way, but having run ten festivals makes us one of the oldest games events in the world, let alone Australia. Freeplay has seen so much—from our amazing array of speakers, award-winning games, our volunteers, and of course our staff—that we can’t let that pass unremarked on.”

The festival will accept submissions for its 2015 awards between 2-13 March. Finalists, as judged by a jury led by RMIT’s Cherie Davidson, will be announced on 10 April, with winners revealed on 19 April.

The festival’s full program will be revealed on 27 February. Further details can be found here.
