Forza Horizon’s Playground Games opens a second studio; working on an open world project

GamesIndustry today reports that Forza Horizon‘s Playground Games is set to open a second studio.

Based in Leamington Spa, UK alongside Playground’s other studio, this new set of developers will not be focusing on racing games, instead making an open world that’s yet to be detailed.

“We are looking at an entirely new leadership team for the new project, which we’re in the process of hiring right now,” Playground Ralph Fulton said.

“We’re going to try and make sure that nothing on the two projects depends on one person, because both of the teams should be thinking about their own project. There will be people like myself who are able to oversee both of them, but only to make sure everything’s heading in the right direction. The people who are actually doing the work will be dedicated to their project.”

Fulton asserted that Forza Horizon will remain a keystone of the developer.

Playground’s latest, Forza Horizon 3, is available on Xbox One and Windows PC as an Xbox Play Anywhere title.
