Fortnite now developed in Unreal Engine 5

Chapter 3 brings more than Spider-Man.

Fortnite is now developed in Unreal Engine 5, Epic Games has recently revealed.

“With the arrival of Chapter 3, [Fortnite] development has flipped to Unreal Engine 5,” Epic said in a tweet. “We’re excited to share this journey with you and are working to make this the best experience possible for the entire Fortnite community.”

Chapter 3 is now live and brings Spider-Man, The Foundation (aka The Rock, Dwayne Johnson) and the ability not just for Spider-Man to web-swing, but every single player to do the same (alongside a new slide ability too). That’s admittedly pretty neat.

Fortnite’s familiar island has been (literally) flipped upside down, so players can expect new environments to explore (like Spider-Man’s Daily Bugle).

Fortnite is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Switch.
