Final Fantasy 14 Xbox release finally slated for 2024

Square Enix to bring titles to Xbox "whenever possible".

The Final Fantasy 14 Xbox release announced back in 2019 is finally coming in 2024, Microsoft and Square Enix have confirmed.

The news comes at the same time Square Enix has promised better support on Xbox consoles.

Speaking at this past weekend’s Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival in Las Vegas, Square Enix CEO Takashi Kiryu said the company will “continue to deliver fabulous games to fans across the world,” and would bring titles to Xbox “whenever possible”.

Kiryu’s statement didn’t go over as well as Square Enix would assumedly like.

“What this means is we probably still won’t get 90% of their games if Sony or Nintendo is in the way,” a Redditor wrote, piggybacking off of a tweet from IGN’s Ryan McCaffrey.

“Does ‘whenever possible’ translate to ‘whenever Sony doesn’t pay us to keep our games off of Xbox’?” wrote the IGN staffer.

While Final Fantasy 14 is due for a 2024 release on Xbox, titles like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Final Fantasy 16 have not.
