Final Fantasy 14 homeowners won’t lose homes over unpaid subs during COVID-19

Final Fantasy 14 players will not lose their homes if they’re unable to pay subscriptions during the coronavirus, COVID-19, crisis.

“Taking into account the world-wide spread of the COVID-19 (also known as “novel coronavirus”) and the economical effects of various cities going into lock-down, we have decided to temporarily suspend automatic housing demolition,” Square Enix said in a statement.

“If your estate or land is currently being prepared for auto-demolition, you can cancel this status by entering your estate or constructing an estate on your land,” it continues.

There’s no set timeframe on the suspension; we’ll keep you informed as we learn more.

Square’s announcement is a case of art imitating life — the news comes at the same time measures are being put in place across Australia to protect renters who are unable to pay rent as a result of the coronavirus crisis.

Final Fantasy 14 is available on Windows PC and PS4.
