FIFA 20 Global Series players had their personal data leaked by EA

EA has accidentally leaked personal data of FIFA 20 Global Series players, the company has confirmed.

“We’re aware of a potential issue affecting the registration page for the EA SPORTS FIFA 20 Global Series that went live earlier today,” EA wrote on Twitter. “We take these matters seriously, and we immediately took down the page while we investigate the matter. We’ll share updates as soon as possible.”

The “potential issue” was that the registration page was showing new entrants the details of those who’d already registered, providing access to information such as usernames, email addresses and birthdates, among other sensitive details.

It’s rather ironic that the breach has come at the same time EA is offering a month of free Origin Access to those who sign up for two-factor authentication on their EA accounts. If a freebie wasn’t enough to do so, maybe this is.
