FIFA 18: Xbox-exclusive Legends makes way for Icons instead

As promised, EA detailed FIFA 18 yesterday night.

First, Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo was confirmed as the game’s cover star. You can see him above.

More importantly, FIFA 18 marks the end of the franchise’s Xbox-exclusive content, dropping its Legends mode in place of Icons, a multi-platform replacement. The mode will bring a number of retired, classic players into FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT). Ronaldo is the first Icon to be announced.

Moreover, FIFA‘s story mode, The Journey, will return for a second concurrent year on PC, Xbox One and PS4.

The game will be available in three flavours: Standard, Ronaldo and Icon editions. Pre-ordering any edition will provide three days of early access and a number of in-game items.

FIFA 18 will be available from 21 September on EA (Xbox One) and Origin (PC) Access, or from 26 September with pre-order access. FIFA 18 will be available to all from 29 September on Windows PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

The Switch version of the title, as expected, will be dramatically different from the core release; it will mimic the version also available on Xbox 360 and PS3 at the same date.
