FIFA 16 won’t appear on portable consoles, Wii U

EA has confirmed that FIFA 16 won’t be released on portable consoles, leading many to believe the same is true for the Wii U.

“With regards to FIFA 16 there isn’t a Vita or 3DS version,” an EA rep shared with PocketGamer. “We don’t have any further detail on the mobile version but will be sure to share with you when we hear more.”

EA’s FIFA 16 announcement was devoid of a 3DS or Vita release, as well as a Wii U one. It’s safe to say Nintendo’s console won’t get a FIFA 16 release as a result.

EA’s NHL franchise is heading down the same path, with a release only on PS4 and Xbox One this year. A re-skinned version of NHL 15, called NHL Legacy, will be available on last-gen.

FIFA 16 is expected in September.

We’ll let you know if anything changes in regards to the Wii U.
