Rogue Protocol is now expected in January 2026.
FBC Firebreak has added cross-platform voice chat, though a major content update originally planned to launch at the same time has been delayed to next year.
“Cross-platform voice chat is available now across all platforms – a long-requested feature that lets you coordinate with your squad no matter where you play,” Remedy said on Steam.
“While we’re excited to roll that out today, the Rogue Protocol Major Update, originally planned to launch alongside it still needs a bit more time. We’re now aiming to release Rogue Protocol in January 2026,” Remedy continued. “As we mentioned in the September roadmap, this update will include a completely new game mode. The extra time will help us make sure everything feels right: polished, balanced, and worthy of your time.”
Said new mode is called Endless Shift, which is a horde mode where players will be “tasked with holding the line for as long as they can”.
The wave-based mode will become increasingly more difficult, though players will also have the chance to upgrade their abilities between rounds.
“Some upgrades amplify your weapon’s raw power, others twist your abilities in unexpected ways and stacking them can lead to wild, game-breaking synergies,” Remedy said of Endless Shift. “Every choice matters: do you gamble your Corruption on another reroll for something even better, or take what you have and push on?”
We reviewed FBC Firebreak back in June, saying it was, “easy to start, sometimes difficult to understand, and challenging to master,” adding that it’s “nevertheless a fun little sideshow while we wait for Control 2 proper.”
FBC Firebreak is available on Windows PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5, also available on all tiers of Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus.
