Fallout 4: Game-breaking vision bug affecting players

Fallout 4 players are reporting a vision bug that renders the game unplayable.

Those affected have their first- and third-person vision filtered through different injured lenses — blurred vision after taking a critical hit to the head, or black-and-white vision after taking a critical hit to the body — and cannot get the filter to remove itself.

You can read about the issue from those direct affected over on GameFAQs.

Polygon’s Owen Good was also crippled by the bug, and reported that he’s tried myriad things to fix the issue. Bed rest, chems, medical assistance from a Doctor and facial reconstruction surgery all proved ineffective.

In the end, the only solution appears available is to revert to a previous save where the vision filter isn’t present.

Bethesda has released a beta patch for Windows PC, but thankfully the issue can be fixed by a console command — “rimod 002041B6” (thanks, Robert!). A patch date for consoles hasn’t been named, but hopefully a fix will be included.
