Fall Guys will need to be fully redownloaded on PS4, PS5

A new launcher and a transition to Epic Games is the culprit.

Players of Fall Guys on PS4 and PS5 will find they’ll soon need to redownload the entire game to keep playing.

Developer Mediatonic took to its blog to explain that a new game launcher and a full transition to Epic Games as the title’s publisher are to blame.

“Last year, you may have heard the news that Mediatonic became part of the Epic Games family,” the post reads. “We’ve been able to add a bunch of new features to the game since joining forces, and are now officially switching over our publisher on PlayStation to Epic, which means you’ll need to re-download Fall Guys from the new launcher on the PlayStation Store.”

The launcher will automatically appear in players’ libraries from 5 April; the launcher and Fall Guys itself will need to be downloaded to continue playing after 9 May. Players are also encouraged to remove the old Fall Guys client from their consoles to save space; in the image above, the old launcher icon is on the left, and the new one on the right.

Those who have played on PlayStation in the past will receive a free Retro Shark outfit for their trouble.

Fall Guys is currently available on Windows PC and PS4, and is also planned for Xbox and Switch in 2022.
