Excavated Atari 2600 cartridges now up for sale on eBay

The city of Alamogordo, New Mexico has placed a number of copies of the Atari 2600’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial up on eBay for purchase.

As you might expect, those cartridges, alongside other titles like Asteroids and Defender, were dug up from a landfill as part of Xbox’s Atari: Game Over documentary.

Initial bids of $50 for cartridges have skyrocketed to $405 at the time of writing.

The city has about 1,500 cartridges from the excavation, and allocated some for sale, and others to travel as part of an Atari exhibition.
