Semi-pro Overwatch Contenders season 1 begins in March 2018

A new semi-professional Overwatch league called Overwatch Contenders will provide the chance for aspiring Australian and New Zealand players to hit it big.

Three Overwatch Contenders seasons will run this year, with a total local prize pool of $150,000 USD up for grabs.

Aussie competition begins on 12 March, with action livestreamed from 2.00 pm AEDT.

“The top eight teams in Open Division have automatically qualified for Overwatch Contenders Australia positions, with Contenders Trials currently underway to determine the final four,” Activision Blizzard today advised via press release.

Those eight teams are as follows:

  • Kings GC
  • Your Name Here
  • cmonBruh
  • ViewSonic.DarkSided
  • Masterminds GC
  • Kanga Esports
  • Alter Ego
