Nintendo confirms Splatoon 2, ARMS, Pokken Tournament DX invitational tournaments at E3 [UPDATE]

Update: Nintendo has also confirmed that E3 2017 will sport a Pokkén Tournament DX invitational, beginning 3.30 am AEST on 15 June.

Original story (5 June 2017): Both Splatoon 2 and ARMS will host invitational tournaments at this year’s E3, Nintendo recently confirmed.

The 2017 Splatoon 2 World Inkling invitational will see teams from four different global regions compete for world dominance. Competing are Deadbeat (USA), Dynameu (Japan), Blue Ringed Octolings (Australia/New Zealand) and Rising Moon (Europe).

The tournament begins at 7.30 am AEST on 14 June.

The 2017 ARMS Open invitational follows from 8.30 am EST on 15 June, pitting “four expert competitive gamers from the fighting game community against E3 attendees who qualify at Nintendo’s booth during certain hours,” the publisher advised.

Participating players include Alex Valle (Street Fighter), Kelsy ‘SuperGirlKels’ Medeiros (Smash Bros.), Daniel ‘Tafokints’ Lee and Marie-Laure ‘Kayane’.

Nintendo’s E3 2017 press conference takes place at 2.00 am AEST on 14 June, ahead of the ARMS invitational.

ARMS heads to Nintendo Switch on 16 June. Splatoon 2 follows on 21 July.
