Hearthstone Championship Tour, Sydney won by newcomer

Jack ‘Jakattack’ Gifford, a New Zealander who’d never competed in a Hearthstone tournament, walked away as the winner of the Hearthstone Championship Tour, Sydney.

With what Blizzard is calling “mainly conservative decks,” Gifford surprised most with the inclusion of the “Exodia Paladin” card. Gifford used his decks to defeat Tsz “Kin0531” Lo, Stefan ‘ProfessorOak’ Stubbs and Puttiwat ‘Odyssey’ Tuntiseranee.

For his efforts, Gifford has pocketed most of the tournament’s $15,000 USD prize pool and emerged at the top of the list from a total of 16 competitors.

The next stop of the HearthStone Championship Tour is in Toronto, Canada over 9-11 March.
