Gfinity Challenger Series 2018 to offer up $450,000 in prize money

Sign-ups are now open for the inaugural Gfinity Australia eSports competition 2018, called The Challenger Series.

With competitions available inside Counter-Strike:Global Offensive, Rocket League and Street Fighter V, there’s almost something for everyone — and if the games aren’t enticing enough, perhaps a $450,000 prize pool is.

The comp’s first season begins on 7 January 2018 and will run over two months. Each month, $15,000 prize money will be available. This includes a separate pre-season comp which starts this week.

Following the conclusion of the Challenger Series early next year, the best amateur players will enter the Elite Draft, which could provide the opportunity to join a professional Esports team.

“The Challenger Series is designed as an integrated, grassroots support platform, which is frequently seen in traditional sports, and is key to the development of Australian Esports,” said incoming Gfinity Australia CEO, Dominic Remond.
