Elements of Destiny 2 content roadmap have been delayed

Elements of the Destiny 2 content roadmap will be delayed, Bungie has today advised.

“With today’s update we’ve moved a few items out to later releases – this is because we are trying to ensure each feature we add hits a sufficiently high quality bar,” Game Director, Christopher Barrett, advised in a news post. “So while we really wanted to get Nightfall Strike Unique Weapons into your hands next week to coincide with Nightfall Scoring, it’s more important that each of those rewards live up to the difficulty it will take to earn them.”

Here’s the new list of what to expect, and when, with new or delayed items in bold:

Update 1.1.3 (27 February)

  • Nightfall Scoring & High Score Tracking
  • Destination Emblem Variants
  • Crucible Emblem Variants
  • Nightfall Emblem Variants
  • Fireteam Members on Destination Map
  • PC Public Test Chat (Opt-in)
  • Companion Mod/Shader Interactions
  • Prestige Nightfall Challenge Cards V1

Update 1.1.4 (27 March)

  • Weapon/Ability Sandbox Changes
  • Heroic Strike Modifiers
  • Iron Banner 6v6
  • Weekly Crucible Playlist: Mayhem/Rumble
  • Crucible Ammo and Gameplay Tuning
  • Crucible Quitter Penalties
  • Repeat Crucible Map/Strike Protection
  • Exotic Repetition Reduction
  • Nightfall Strike Unique Rewards*
  • Companion Vendor Viewing

Update 1.2.0 (aka Season 3, May 2018)

  • Eater of Worlds Prestige Mode
  • Seasonal Crucible Rankings
  • Private Matches
  • Vault Space Increase
  • Multi-Emote
  • Exotic Masterworks
  • Seasonal Vendor Progression
  • Faction Rallies Improvements
  • Exotic Weapon/Armor Sandbox Changes*

Most notably, Mods System Improvements have been removed from the lists above.

“Mod System Improvements are also still planned, but will not be available when 1.2.0 is released,” Barrett advised. “We’ll give more details on when to expect these changes at a future date.”

“We also have a big addition we’re eager share – Rumble will be joining 6v6 Iron Banner and Mayhem in our new rotating weekly Crucible playlist in 1.1.4,” Barrett offered by way of apology. “We want to make sure players have a more diverse set of game modes available in both Crucible and Private Matches. Doubles is also planned to return, but we do not have an exact release date just yet.”
