The Elder Scrolls Online goes free-to-play; current-gen release set for June

Bethesda today confirmed that The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited will be available for PS4 and Xbox One in June.

Moreover, the game will shift to a free-to-play model on Windows PC and Mac from 17 March. The game will be free to play — after initial purchase — on Xbox One and PS4 upon its release on 9 June.

You can watch Bethesda’s announcement via Twitch:

An optional subscription service called ESO Plus will also be offered to players “who wish to pay a single monthly charge for  a premium membership service, providing exclusive in-game bonuses, a monthly allotment of crowns to use in the store and access to all DLC game packs while a member,” Bethesda confirmed. It’s important to note that current subscribers to the PC or Mac version of The Elder Scrolls will automatically be enrolled in ESO Plus from 17 March.
