Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree doesn’t have new Achievements or Trophies

Sadface.

Elden Ring‘s big Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is out now, but be warned in advance: it doesn’t come with new Achievements or Trophies.

While this mightn’t bother most — nor should it, really, as we said the base game was “a triple-stack cake with several meticulous layers to dig into” in our original review — it certainly will impact those among us who consider themselves Achievement or Trophy hunters.

While you’re here, this is also a good time to point out that those looking to start the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion must first defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord Of Blood — if you don’t have some Achievements or Trophies that correspond to those feats, you’ll at least be picking them up in the process.

If you’re on the fence about playing because of a lack of new earnables, I’ll leave you with this fact to ponder: on the Friendly Fire Show, Ben’s pretty adamant that he doesn’t play through DLC or expansions. In his review of Shadow of the Erdtree, he’s certainly made an exception.

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is the perfect encore to one of the greatest games of all time,” Ben wrote. “It knows it’s already delivered an astonishing performance, and after leaving us hanging, returns asking if we want more. That’s exactly what we wanted, and it’s more of the same in all the right ways. There are no big surprises, and that’s only a good thing, as everything in the Shadow Realm would feel at home in the base game. It promised more Elden Ring, and as someone who rarely finds the time to revisit an old game for new DLC, I’m utterly addicted to this expansion.”

Elden Ring‘s big Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is out now on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, and PS5.
