Ed Boon might “one day” make a horror-based fighting game

Gaming legend Ed Boon has said that a horror-based fighting game is a logical next step for NetherRealm studios and might “one day” happen.

NetherRealm has featured Friday the 13th‘s Jason, Alien‘s xenomorph, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre‘s Leatherface and Predator’s… Predator in Mortal Kombat, prompting Game Informer to ask whether a standalone game was coming.

“Yes, yes! You know, as we’ve been accumulating them, that idea has been coming up more and more frequently,” Boon said.

“You brought it up and a few other people have brought it up like ‘why don’t you do a horror movie fighting game?’ Maybe one day we’ll do it.”

We’ll keep you posted.

NetherRealm’s next project is Injustice 2, heading to Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4 next year.
