EA’s FIFA to become EA Sports Football Club: report

What's in a brand?

EA’s popular FIFA franchise may be renamed to EA Sports Football Club, a new report suggests.

The report comes from Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, as part of his premium show titled Grubbsnax.

EA Sports Football Club, EA Sports FC, that’s the name of the game,” Grubb said. “I saw trademarks for it, I thought that could be just a feature like an online mode, [but] I asked around about it [and] that’s it, that’s the name.”

EA has filed multiple trademark applications for the potential new moniker back in October of last year, bolstering the claims. At the same time, EA’s Cam Weber said the company was “exploring the idea” of a name change; to date, EA has not made any confirmation this has happened.
